From the Principal
WOW! where have the last weeks gone! So far 2025 has been a year of change and staffing disruptions. Despite the many changes our staff and students have been resilient and have settled in well to their daily routines.
Currently we are short a HPE teacher. We are actively searching for a replacement however, this may take some time. Mrs Tamara Setford has kindly agreed to take on the HPE role in the short term. A reminder that swimming starts next week for all Dimbulah State School students.
2025 has seen an increase in the number of consent forms requiring parental signature this year. This is necessary to meet every-changing departmental requirements and more importantly, to ensure our students are not disadvantaged across a variety of curriculum and extra-curricular activities. We apologise in advance and encourage all parents and caregivers to return these consent forms in a timely manner.
NAPLAN testing is scheduled to begin on Wednesday 12 March and runs for almost two weeks. NAPLAN testing is for all students across Year’s 3,5,7 and 9. NAPLAN is utilised by the department and schools to monitor and track long term student progress. Parents and caregivers have the option to withdraw students from the testing. A letter outlining the testing schedule for Dimbulah State School and the option for withdrawal has been sent home with all Year 3,5,7 and 9 students today. The schedule has been designed to minimise the impact on student learning.
Despite the weather, district sport trials are underway and scheduled for the coming weeks. Students will be reminded of upcoming trials for scheduled sports and provided with trial information if interested. The tablelands sporting calendar will also be available on our school website under the “Forms and Document” section.
The P&C Annual General Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday 13 March at 2.00pm. The Dimbulah State School P&C plays an important role in supporting our students learning, raising funds and providing feedback to the principal. I encourage every parent to come along and find out how the P&C operates and how we can best support student learning and extra-curricular student activities.
Gotcha Rewards
Every day the students can earn Gotchas for displaying our school values of being respectful, cooperative, safe and a learner. When a student has recevied a 'Gotcha' ticket they place them in a box. Students are randomly drawn out on parade and can cash in their ticket for a free popper.
